  • Finding Direction, True, Magnetic, Compass, Giro
  • Compass Error, Deviation, Variation, TVMDC
  • Chart symbols and abbreviations
  • The Canadian Buoyage System
  • Latitude & Longitude
  • Finding a Fix by range, bearing, and depth
  • Running Fixes
  • Calculating Set & Drift, and Allowing for Wind & Current
  • Time, Speed & Distance calculations
  • Electronic Navigation and Radio Aids
  • Ample time for Practical Hands-On Chartwork
  • Review Questions
  • Final Exam

In the day of AIS, ARPA, and Integrated Chart-Plotters, people are relying less on paper and visual navigation, therefore it is becoming more important to know what to do if/when these technologies fail. This is a fun, practical hands-on course.
